15 Minutes of Fame … Well, 3

In my idle time, unemployed in Seattle, I’ve been doing a few things to keep myself busy. One of them has been working on a web-only cooking show co-produced by my stepdad, Brad, called “Cookus Interruptus.” Each three- to five-minute video features a woman showing you how to prepare a dish, but the catch is she keeps being interrupted by her family. You know, like in everyday life.

Last week we had a two-day shoot — 10 hours a day on location. I was the second cameraman, shooting closeups while Brad got the wide shots. Flying almost by the seat of our pants — the whole thing’s improvised — we ended up filming 17 recipes, good enough for 17 videos. It was a lot of fun.

But on the second shooting day, KING 5 TV came to do a story on the show. The piece aired Wednesday night. Check it out.

Sure, they forgot to include a web refer (, for the record). But being on TV — whether as a subject or wandering around in the background as a reporter — never quite gets old.

If you’re interested, you can sign up for weekly e-mail alerts whenever a new “Cookus” episode is uploaded. Lots of good, easy, healthy recipes. There’s a focus on fresh, local and organic foods — vegetarian and non.

Cookus Interruptus –nicely done. You and Brad both look great and the show is well done too. I like the premise.

Sure, they mention the “experienced improv actors” but not the experienced crew?

And Jean Ennerson is still on King 5. Wow.
