Good morning from Eugene

EUGENE, Ore. — Well, at some point I’m going to have to come up with more creative post titles, but right now there’s really no reason to. It’s morning, I’m in Eugene and I’m drinking bad hotel coffee. Later this morning, Vince Grippi (fellow WSU beat reporter) and I will be trekking to Corvallis, where the Cougars play the Oregon State Beavers tonight. I’ll post a picture of the press area there.

If you look past the Roger Clemens steroids rumpus, the big news today in Sports World is about Indiana men’s basketball coach Kelvin Sampson. Possible “major” NCAA regs violation, and hence possible “major” punishment. But because this may be boring to some of you — and because I’m supposed to be an objective reporter — I’ll spare you my opinion on the matter.

My new watch

And now, because my blog has been unfortunately devoid of any imagery, I’ll post a picture of the watch I bought lastnight for 50 percent off at some random Eugene mall. The only reason I post this is that I have been thinking a lot lately — well, as much as you can about a watch — about getting a watch. The reason I say that is I heard somewhere that journalists should wear watches, because it portrays you know, care about and are aware of the time. Well, I haven’t worn a wristwatch probably since my Wile E. Coyote watch I had in seventh grade, so Kenneth Cole is a bit of a step up.
